A short disclosure gives callers context and lets the business set the tone before a request is collected.

• State that the assistant is AI in the first useful sentence, rather than hiding it in a footer or a long recording.
• Keep the first exchange narrow: identify the business, explain the assistant's role, and offer the next approved step.
• Use only language the business has approved. A script can be direct without claiming that a person is on the line.

Sample disclosure, not a real message

“Thanks for calling. I am the AI assistant for this business, helping with scheduling and basic information. I can take your request and send it to the team.”

A handoff rule is a written decision about when the assistant stops and a person or approved protocol takes over.

• Document the destination, owner, expected response path, and exact trigger before the assistant is used with callers.
• For medical organizations, keep the assistant to administrative and scheduling support. It should not provide medical advice, assess symptoms, or make clinical decisions.
• For legal organizations, keep the assistant from giving legal advice or interpreting a caller's legal position. Route legal strategy, deadlines, representation, and case-specific questions to the approved human contact.
• Emergency wording and escalation routes must be approved by the organization. The assistant should follow that written route rather than inventing guidance.

Sample approved handoff language, not a real message

“I cannot provide medical or legal advice. I can send your request to the approved team member or follow the emergency instructions your organization has provided.”

A separate number creates a contained way to check routing, disclosures, handoffs, and caller experience before changing a primary line.
